What I hear, I forget.
What I see, I remember.
What I do, I understand.
-- Confucius --
Hey --- We’re the Kelley Kids Teens – and we’re currently enrolled in Bizy U Home School. As of now, we’re the only students. But, you can sign up at any time and participate from the comfort of your own home if you’d like. Come on in. We want to show you a few lessons we’ve learned recently.
Our Mom has given us total control of this web page in order to demonstrate what three kids teens can accomplish if left alone to play experiment. You see, she feels that developing an entrepreneurial mindset is very important in today’s world. I mean, do you watch the news. (Yeah, okay, Mom makes us for Current Events). We’ve seen many businesses fail, increasing corporate layoffs, and growing government deficits. Mom says not to count on there being any Social Security benefits by the time we get old. We’re hopeful. But, we can’t put all our money in that bank, right?
So, Mom’s teaching us about the business world by having us help her with our family
work-from-home
business.

Are there any other kids teens out there who liked the movie Napoleon Dynamite as much as we did? Then you understand life’s all about the skills you have. "I mean Gosh!" We might not have numb chuck or bow hunting skills. But, we’ve mastered some cool stuff as a result of this little experiment. For example, we’ve learned:

Creativity
You just might have to put on one
major thinking cap to stimulate
innovative outside-the-box mental
activity. These are absolute musts
for any small business owner.

Perserverence
An entrepreneur must have the stick-to-it-iveness to overcome adversity. Problems will pop-up daily. When the going gets tough, the tough must dig their heels in and refuse to give up.
Planning (Goal Setting, Budgeting,
and Decision-making)
It's very important for anyone starting a business to plan out their moves prior to making them. Our business and budget plans will prevent us from getting ourselves stuck out-on-a-shaky-limb. That might mean some tough decisions have to be made. How should we spend our time, for example? Should we add another music review to our Music page? Or, work on designing t-shirts? Running a business is a constant balancing act.
Responsibility
There are no free rides for small business owners. 90% of success is showing up. The rest is working hard once you get there.
Research
Do your home work! Find out the best methods for organizing, marketing, and managing your business. Luckily for us our mom has already found a program that does all these things easily. Take a look at this
quick tour slide show
for an explanation of the Site Build It small business model. It' so easy to read and understand even a small child is captivated.
Computer Skills
Site Build It!
has taught us so much about putting together a website. Everything you see on this page demonstrates we've learned a lot. We didn't think we could do any of this when our mom suggested we help her with the business.
A very cool teenager convinced us we just might be able to achieve more than we think. Her name is Nori Evoy. Okay, her dad is the president and founder of Site Build It! and Site Sell. I suppose that is a major advantage. But, then our mom is lurking over our shoulders as we work as well. Mom's pretty good at letting us learn by doing it ourselves. Same with Nori. You can read about the
successful business
she started at age 15 or go to her web site
Anguilla-beaches.com.
Communication Skills
We've learned that writing e-copy is different from the other forms of communication we use like drafting brochures, articles, business cards, etc. A book called
Make Your Content Pre Sell
really helped us understand this concept. There are many other Site Sell
textbooks and online courses
available to help us with all aspects of our family business.
If you'd like to learn more about how and why we started our web site business, check out our mom's
Home School Finances
page.
